There is currently no comprehensive underground map of the UK's service network. This project looked to tackle the problem by creating a combined underground infrastructure asset map of the North East (the first of its kind for the region).
This project details how Labs have developed two prototype applications for Microsoft HoloLens for tabletop placements of detailed 3D models as holograms.
Marker-based augmented reality is where a symbol, a pattern, a barcode such as QR code or even a three dimensional shape of a physical object is used as a target to trigger an AR event and visualise the data that the user can not normally see.
In this type of augmented reality, the location of the object in real world becomes the key to unlock the digital data attributed to it. Here we look at some (of the many) use cases and applications AR has with geospatial data.
OS Elements is a modular design system for building map applications with Ordnance Survey's UI design styles. The framework is accessible; usability tested; and works across mobile, tablet and desktop.
Due to its closeness to a real life experience, virtual reality can be a very powerful medium for simulation and education. Here we introduce some of the applications that have been developed to assess the role VR can play in immersive visualisation; and to enhance learning.
This project was an investigation into indoor mapping and the activities concerned with it. Outputs included creating an interactive floorplan; performing room-to-room routing; and locating staff/desk locations.
